ABOUT MANNA HORSTING

Manna was introduced to music at a very young age. At the age of ten she began taking piano lessons. Through piano she discovered a whole new world. A place in which she was able to learn & play, explore sound, discover melodies, create stories, and a world to escape into. Through this world, Manna developed a love for the piano and she learned how to integrate this with her other talents, merging music and imagery together.

For over a decade Manna has been professionally composing music for commercials, theatre productions, and a variety of visual arts & music related projects.

“I love the different aspects of composing for commercial projects. The challenge to quickly develop something that fits the project, to get to the core of the story, and to understand what music it needs. Working under pressure to create musical support for short stories and many different styles of movies: The rush of it all really gives me a kick.”

On this site you can find the work that Manna has created mainly in assignment for Sizzer Amsterdam.

ALBUM

WAAR JE OOK GAAT, DAAR BEN JE
(DE EEUWENOUDE MARIA BIDWEG DOOR MAASTRICHT)

In 2017 I started working on my new album, which has slowly grown into quite a collection of pieces. The works combine elements of classical music with those of cinematic composition, and are composed for piano and small string/woodwinds ensemble.

In 2018 I finished work on a really great project.

I composed the music for an audio tour of the city Maastricht that guides visitors through their headphones on a solo stroll down the old Maria Bidweg (a church procession-route). The music I created for this project has a meditative quality, and guides you through the process of self-exploration and being fully present and in the moment. Combined with beautiful stories and sound-design, the experience is fully immersive and truly special.

Visitors are invited to walk the Maria Bidweg in the summer of 2019.
